Kindergarten students are beginning their musical journey! Here are a few things they will be working on...
We start out by singing echo songs and tapping/playing the steady beat. Musicians sing songs from different countries and cultures and play instruments like drums, shakers, Boomwhackers, rainsticks, and castanets. We explore how music can be fast, medium, and slow; loud, medium, and soft; as well as how to use our high, medium, and low voices! We even get to explore simple Rhythms and read musical stories!

First Grade students are building on their Kindergarten musical start! Here are a few things they will be working on...
We expand on our singing of echo songs and tapping/playing the steady beats. Musicians work on Call and Response songs, songs with changing Tempos, and Dynamics! We dive into Musical Textures of Thin and Thick groupings/sounds. We also explore playing/clapping/singing/
reading Rhythms. We sing many different songs using pitch hand signs to for melodies.

Second Grade students are continuing their musical journey! Here are a few things they will be working on...
We explore playing/clapping/singing/readingQuarter Notes, Eighth Notes, Quarter Rests and other music notation. Musicians use pitch hand signs to sing and explore meloides and how they move. Musicians explore songs with different Tempos and Dynamics. They learn many songs with dances and games as well as sing songs form many different countries and cultures!

Third Grade students are continuing their musical journey! Here are a few things they will be working on...
Musicians use different movements to show different dynamics that they hear as well as create rhythm patterns with their names! We explore playing/clapping/singing/reading Quarter Notes, Eighth Notes, Quarter Rests, and Sixteenth Notes as well as other music notation. Musicians learn about musical phrases and form by performing different songs. Musicians sing songs in different languages as well!


Fourth Grade students are continueing their musical journey! Here are a few things they will be working on...
Musicians get to explore the Native American music styles of the Iroquois. The students learn about the Iroquois as part of their Social Studies units and get to explore Iroquis drumming and even create their own Water Drum! This year, musicians will get to learn to play the Recorder! Musicians will be learning how to play B, A, and G notes on the recorder, read music notation, and working with music rhythms to play different songs! 4th Grade musicians will also get a chance to participate in a concert to showcase their singing and music knowledge!
Fifth Grade students are continuing their musical journey! Here are a few thisn they will be working on...
5th Graders will be having music starting in February! I am very excited that we will be getting a chance to learn how to play the Ukulele! Ukuleles are small string instruments that come from Hawaii!
Musicians will be learning how to hold the Ukulele,strum the strings and play different chords! They will also be learning how to read different types of music notation, and how to play different songs!
